The Role

You’ll join a cohort of fellow graduates, experiencing a diverse array of placements within our Financial Control and Internal Audit teams. We’re in the midst of a thrilling transformation, enhancing our systems and processes. Recently, we were shortlisted for the Public Sector Team of the Year at the 2024 North-East Accountancy Awards—proof of our commitment to excellence.

The Financial Control team plays a crucial role in accounts production, external financial reporting, technical accounting advice, taxation compliance, and maintaining robust financial control across the University. Meanwhile, the Internal Audit team provides insightful and objective assurance on governance, risk management, and internal controls, encompassing the full spectrum of the University’s operations.

Your Growth Journey

This role offers you the chance to pursue a fully funded postgraduate level 7 Accountancy Professional apprenticeship standard, leading to the prestigious ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification. This journey, expected to take four years, will arm you with the skills and confidence to excel independently as you advance through the qualification.

About You

We’re seeking a recent graduate or someone about to complete their undergraduate studies. A strong passion for finance, accounting, and audit is essential. While experience in these fields is beneficial, it’s not a prerequisite. What matters most are your analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Experience working with various stakeholders and managing competing priorities will serve you well.
