Responsibilities:

  1. Sanitation and Setup: Ensure the pristine condition of linens, glassware, and silverware. Meticulously prepare dining setups, guaranteeing that dishes, glasses, and cutlery adhere to rigorous cleanliness standards. Ensure condiment containers are replete.
  2. Service Excellence: Adhere to strict instructions and precise schedules. Efficiently transport food orders from the kitchen and beverages from the bar to patrons. Diligently refill food and beverage containers and execute emergency cleaning tasks. Provide clear, succinct answers to queries regarding the menu and dishes served.
  3. Maintenance and Upkeep: Clean and reset tables post-use. Perform ancillary cleaning duties within the dining and preparation areas. Occasionally assist with dishwashing and other related tasks as time permits.

Requirements

Employment Conditions:

  • Successful completion of a background investigation is imperative.
  • Acquisition of a Food Handler’s Certificate or completion of food handler training within 30 days of appointment is mandatory.
  • Minimum age requirement is 16. For those aged 18 or older, dram shop training is necessary. Individuals under 18 are prohibited from serving or selling alcohol.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during special events is required.

Area of Consideration:

This vacancy is open to citizens, permanent residents, and legal residents of the United States within a 60-mile radius of RAF Alconbury, United Kingdom, or those who will relocate within the next 30 days. Permanent and legal residents must be citizens of a NATO country unless authorized to reside in the UK as dependents of a US Visiting Forces employee.

Eligible candidates must possess a US-issued social security number and provide residency status documentation. ‘Ordinarily resident’ individuals are ineligible. Those who have resided in the UK for over 366 days without affiliation to the US Visiting Forces are considered ‘ordinarily resident.’ Exemptions include time spent as an employee or dependent of US agency personnel supporting US Visiting Forces. British citizens may apply for local national positions on base but are ineligible for US NAF positions. Dual US/UK citizens with a valid US passport may apply for US NAF positions.

Experience Requirements:

No specific experience is required. Candidates must follow simple oral instructions, prepare checks for patrons, communicate effectively with customers, and exhibit skill in public interaction.

Education:

This position does not allow for the substitution of education for experience.

Additional Information:

  • Male applicants born post-December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Candidates must have resided in the US or a US Territory for three consecutive years preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
  • All Federal NAF employees must receive salary payments via electronic funds transfer/direct deposit as mandated by PL 104-134.
  • A probationary period may be required.
  • Selection is subject to hiring preferences and priority consideration restrictions.
  • Additional selections from this vacancy announcement may be made within 60/90 days after the closing date.
  • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized.
  • Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) is not authorized.
  • Post Allowance is authorized for Regular Full-Time employment.
  • Visa sponsorship may provide 20 guaranteed hours per week, but this is not assured.
  • This is a Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) position supporting Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Air Force and Space Force.
